Trail running in a Oakville Forest, Clean Air, and a Power Plant

As I will be running in a 5K race for Clean Air and to protest the threat of a 975 megawatt power plant being built on Oakville (only 320 meters from a school), I went for a trail run in search of clean air. I found during the mindful running adventure that the sounds, smells and sights in a forest help expand one’s awareness and expose an interconnected world. This allowed me to set aside my concerns and to appreciate the beauty of the forest.

Blueberry waffles and grits to Power my first 1/2 marathon

A good start to the day is helpful to maintaining your energy on a long run. On my first 1/2 marathon I started the day with homemade blueberry power waffles with grits and veggie sausages.

Training one day at a time

A training log preparing for the Chilly 1/2 Marathon and an appreciation for grass when my feet are still recovering from my long run. Mindful running seems a fair bit easier to practice on trails and grass due to the forced extra awareness of each step taken on uneven terrain.
