As I will be running in a 5K race for Clean Air and to protest the threat of a 975 megawatt power plant being built on Oakville (only 320 meters from a school), I went for a trail run in search of clean air. I found during the mindful running adventure that the sounds, smells and sights in a forest help expand one’s awareness and expose an interconnected world. This allowed me to set aside my concerns and to appreciate the beauty of the forest.

Reflections, Shades of Light and Running Style
Running with the sunset can be a very enlightening experience providing the space to practice mindfulness, running samadhi and efficient running techniques. Mindful running provides the space for analysis of running techniques which is explored in focusing on how the pelvis is moving when running and the importance of how each foot connects with the ground.
How each step is received makes a difference
The experience of running can be highly impacted by our moods and past anchors in the mind. One runner investigates how being mindfully to this process allows for the shaping of the experience in a positive manner.
One step, One Mind. Quiet Steps, Quiet Mind.
Learning to run efficiently and one with the moving environment is developed one step at a time. By creating the foundation for quiet running, you can also create the space for the quiet mind necessary for Running Samadhi
Running to the Beat and Drumming with your Feet
Music can be a useful means to increase performance while running at the same time making it even more enjoyable. I have been investigating “drumming” with my feet as pat of my integration of music into my runs.
Pulling your way along the road to the Chilly

Energy level and -16′C cold weather
How energy levels and cold weather (-16′C) can have an impact on a runner’s endurance training.
Training one day at a time
A training log preparing for the Chilly 1/2 Marathon and an appreciation for grass when my feet are still recovering from my long run. Mindful running seems a fair bit easier to practice on trails and grass due to the forced extra awareness of each step taken on uneven terrain.
Room for Doubt in a Runner’s Journey?
What does the impact of doubt play in a runner’s long distance journey or someone training for a marathon? As shown in the documentary “Running the Sahara”, doubt was exhibited as needing to be controlled to allow each runner to reach his goals. Charlie Engle, Ray Zahab, and Kevin Lin together mastered this in running for 111 days straight across the entire Sahara desert for a total distance of over 170 marathons.
